A new high school is proposed on Westoak Trails Boulevard. Because Abbey Park High School can no longer accommodate the numbers needed, a new high school build was approved by the Halton District School Board in October 2008 with Ministry of Education approval occurring in May 2009.

The new Clearview School’s French immersion plan was approved by the Halton District School Board (HDSB) which seems to allow grandfathering of FI students while English track students are sent to the new school.
The new dual-track school set to open in September 2010 approved grandfathering all Grade 7-8 FI students residing in Clearview are at EJ James for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years. Busing will also be provided for the students. [Read more...]

Halton will be getting full-time daycare in some of its schools starting in September. Both the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic School Board are among the first school board’s in the province to offer it.

Halton District School Board Director Retires

The head of the Halton District School Board (HDSB) is retiring next summer. Wayne Joudrie has served as Director of Education since October 2005. This will take affect August 2010.
After 33 years in public education and 19 years in senior administration, he noted accommodation was the biggest issue during his tenure.
He noted that related Program Accommodation Reviews were also difficult but said that a number of accomplishments occurred such as improved student achievement, opening of new schools and working with staff and the community towards creating a great learning envioronment in our Halton.
Oakville Sells Surplus Land at White Oaks Secondary School

As earlier reported, the Halton District School board was meeting to decide whether to sell surplus portions of land at White Oaks Secondary School (WOSS). The decision was made to sell the surplus green space even though the spaces are currently used for a sports field and a small baseball diamond. [Read more...]
