National Bullying Awareness Week and hotline sheds light on problem

November 15th to 19th is National Bullying Awareness Week. Most teens know how difficult bullying can become so hopefully if we stand together we can make a difference.

A Canadian charity providing help and hope to kids and teens since 1989 is hoping this week will make a difference in national awareness to a growing problem everywhere. Free, 24/7, professional counselling 1-800-668-6868, AND online at KidsHelpPhone.ca.

As their website states:

What is bullying?

Bullying is when someone does or says something to hurt someone else. It is always on purpose. Bullies can work on their own or in packs. Either way, bullying is about making someone feel small and powerless. No one asks to be bullied, and no one deserves it.

Stop the Bullying – A Canadian Website is Trying to Do Just That

With the issue of bullying increasing and the topic being at the forefront of academic and social institutions, more and more articles, publications and websites are cropping up. As parents we all know that the affect that bulling can have on children and young adults can be devastating. Cyber bullying is a new issue but one the schools have to deal with on a daily basis.

With the awareness increasing as to the need to stop bullying in its tracks, we will do our best to provide information as we get it. In that in mind we introduce the following websites developed in Canada by a parent and teacher who sent us this information in response to one of our bullying articles.

A Canadian teacher and parent named Bill Belsey is President of a website developed to address issues with bullying. President of Bullying.org, this organization wanted to share some educational resources that might be helpful to parents, educators and students in their efforts to better address bullying.

Regardless of where you live, bullying and its affects are the same and this website and its resources may be very helpful.
