Most of us think of Toronto when we think of homelessness but reports indicate that as many as 31,000 people in our community live below the poverty line.
Support services within our community help those in need including innovative programs such as local high schools participating in food drives throughout the community during the weekend.
With basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing being scarce, it is community services that help those less fortunate and vulnerable.
You may have received a flyer in your door today asking to give, as schools such as Abbey Park are participating in this food drive.
We are pleased to see the innovative ways our kids are trying to help those less fortunate in our community.
