Oakville’s H1N1 Cases Rising

Oakville and Halton’s cases of H1N1 flu are rising.

Halton appears to be hit hard by this virus. Approximately 60% of schools in the region are reporting student absenteeism rates of 2% or higher due to flu symptoms. Daycare numbers are also rising with 4-5 centres reporting suspected H1N1 cases daily.

Emergency visits, usually at 10%, show it is up to 40% or more. Hospitalizations are 15 with the majority of those children under the age of 20.
