Oakville’s Official Plan has been approved making the way for new policies to be adopted. This new place allows to region to control how development occurs ensuring the region will become the most liveable community in Canada.

In addition to protecting existing neighbourhoods it provides additional public input about the development in our region.
The goal will be to have Oakville’s development include full fixed housing, employment opportunities through the use of office and industrial development, environmental protection, and human services such as transportation, parks, trails, etc.
The plan promotes the use of various forms of transportation such as cars, transit, cycling and walking.
This Livable Oakvill Plan conforms to the Provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe and the Provincial Policy Statement.
What does the approval of this plan mean over the next few years? Well, zoining by-laws will need updating, guidelines and policy will need to be put into place and community improvement plans implemented.
