There has been much talk over the airwaves today about the Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association (OECTA) March 23rd letter telling members that their dues will be hiked by $60 and “The entire amount will be devoted to OECTA’s political action campaign geared to the October 6th provincial election. Our goal is to elect an election friendly legislature in order to protect the gains in education made over the past eight years”.
Now lets not fool ourselves into thinking unions, teachers, and other educational organizations benefiting from policy do not get into the election game…..but….this seems so manipulated it may backfire.
Residents are furious, teachers are crying foul and for many this screams at an attempt to protect their interests (benefits, salaries, pension, etc). Many see this a deliberate attempt to fund the Liberals back into power.
